Ma'Khia Bryant's death

On Tuesday afternoon the police in Colombus, Ohio, received an attempted stabbing call and after a few minutes another one. When the police arrived on the scene they saw a woman, which later turned out to be 16 years old Ma'Khia Bryant, moving towards another girl. She was holding a knife ready to stab the other girl, but dropped it after being shot 4 times in the chest by the police. She was taken to the hospital and prounanced dead. Hazel Bryant, who is Ma'Khia's aunt said that her niece got into the fight with other teenagers. Now people are arguing if this is another act of racism in the USA. 


At first I was shocked when I've read that this girl died, because of this action, but then I saw the video of it, where you can clearly see she was in full swing mode, closer than 1 second to stab the other teenage girl and wasn't listening to the police requests to stop. If the police didn't shoot her the other girl would have been probably dead by now and I wonder what would people be saying then? They would be angry that he hesitated to shoot Ma'Khia and because of that a victim died. Honestly if someone was trying to treat me with a knife, I'd pray that the police would help me, even if that would require using a gun. Also I think that this has nothing to do with racism, both of the girls were the same race and the police just had to make a decision, which one of them is in more dangerous situation and it's sad that now the other girl gets tons of hate for getting her lived saved.

    Some police actions are racist but this one probably wasn't.
    Another question is though if they really had to kill her? They could've used tasers or just threatened her with guns.
    The worrying thing is the ease with which the US police draw their deadly weapons, especially if the target is black. Would they have done the same if the girl was white? Or would they have hesitated?

      He couldn't use a teaser because she was too far away so he wouldn't make it to safe the other girl on time. He clearly didn't want to shoot her, but just threaten her (he pulled out his gun like 4 second before shooting), but she was furious and wasn't listening to his requests to sit and calm down. He used a gun when he had no other option, because she was literally less than a second to stab the other girl. I think police will always use deadly force if you are trying to attempt a muder in front of them.

Cyprus urged to ban hunting at coast to protect flamingoes

 Larnaca Salt Lake in Cyprus is a key stop for almost 15,000 flamingoes on the migration path from Africa to Europe. Everything was okey until January last year when governemnt's fauna serviced noticed tens losses of flamingoes. They died in the result of lead poisoning from shotgun pellets. To this day hunting for ducks was only allowed in the network's southern tip of the Salt Lake, but now conservationists in Cyprus are urging to expand a hunting ban, because even though using lead pellets is prohibited here, hunters don't care and still use them. As the result flamingoes eat residues of them and die.  I totally agree with poeple who say that hunting for ducks should be forbidden here at all. First of all, generally, killing these poor ducks isn't funny and I totally can't understand how it can be amusing to anyone, but I also understand that it couldn't be totally prohibited, because (unfortunatelly) many people treat it as a hobby. New bans in Switzerland

 Sunday's referendum in Switzerland showed that 51% of Swiss voters voted in favour of banning face coverings in public, including the burka or niqab worn by Muslim men and especially women. Face masks worn for health and safety reasons won't be affected by the new law. Switzerland's parliament opposed the referendum proposal and said it represents a "fringe phonomenon". The Muslims are mad and are critisizing the ban saying that it is clearly directed against them.  I agree with them and it is totally understandable that they are angry. It is very suspicious for me that people from the Swiss People's Party who voted for banning face covering say that it is not aimed at Muslims and that it also applies to for example rioters who often pull over their faces a scarf, but then make posters with a graphic of a Muslim woman on it and caption under it saying: "Stop Islam extremism!"... If they will accept this ban it will ruin their reputation and clearly ...
